Tech startup Cruise has developed a working prototype that would allow you to turn your existing car into a self-driving vehicle. The setup would include a sensor mounted just above the windshield to map the road, actuators in the gas pedals and wheels, and a computer in the trunk to control the whole operation. While there are limitations to the operation (including the cost), the developments by Cruise could force other self-driving car developers such as Google to make improvements of their own.
