GoPro, maker of the popular action cameras, has named former Skype CEO Tony Bates as the company’s new president. Bates, who had also been an executive with Microsoft after their acquisition of Skype in 2011, was seen as a potential successor to Steve Ballmer. However, after Microsoft named Satya Nadella as its new CEO, Bates parted with the company in March.

Hoping to become a more environmentally friendly business, Dell is making a line of computers that are made from recycled plastic. China has banned Windows 8 from being installed as the operating system on government computers, believing that the OS could pose a future security risk. The Chinese government will reportedly look to implement a Linux-based operating system, first in government offices and then on a consumer-wide basis.

PC manufacturer Dell was bought by founder Michael Dell, with help from investment firm Silver Lake, in a move that will take the company off the public market. Dell has struggled to keep up with HP and Lenovo in recent year, and Michael Dell felt that the best thing for the company would be to bring it under his control, so he would not have to run his company on the whims of the stock market. Microsoft also loaned $2 billion to Michael Dell in his team, with the goal of keeping one of the flagship manufacturers of devices that run Windows a viable company.

For PCMag.com writer Sascha Segan, the Xbox One simply does not measure up to the ease at which he and his family can be entertained by games on mobile devices. Google introduced GMail 10 years ago as something of a side project, but in that time it has become perhaps the most popular email service in the world. However, GMail is not without its issues. Among the improvements that PC Mag suggests include an easier way to switch between Google accounts online, getting rid of the email compose box, and better integration with Microsoft Outlook.
